Three scientific workshops conclude on the first day of the Medical Research Week at Jazan University

In continuation of the scientific activities in the medical research week organized by Jazan University, represented by the College of Medicine; 3 research workshops were held; Two of the workshops dealt with the concerns and issues of the postgraduate student in his scientific research career.

The first workshop was presented by Dr. Abdullah Al-Harbi, Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, College of Medicine, Jazan University; In it, he presented an explanation of the skills of writing a research draft, which includes the introduction, methodology, results, and discussion. Dr. Al-Harbi also elaborated on the best way to read the scientific paper, and warned against some common mistakes that the researcher might make, which negatively affect the quality and credibility of the paper.

The following workshop was conducted by Dr. Ibrahim bin Muta’en Qasadi, a professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the College of Medicine, in which he explained the correct methods that the research project owner should know in his endeavor to publish his paper in scientific journals with scientific reference.

The last workshop was presented by Dr. Abu Obeida Yassin; Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine, Jazan University. The workshop touched on the concept of evidence-based medicine and provided an opportunity to identify its steps and apply its principles derived from the pursuit of the Kingdom's 2030 Vision in terms of improving the quality of health services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and providing better care for patients during clinical health practice through the establishment of an integrated social and health system based on foundations scientifically supported by evidence.

The Head of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the College of Medicine, and Chairman of the Scientific Committee for the Medical Research Week 2022, Dr. Ahmed Al-Qasim, explained that the aim of holding such scientific workshops is to develop the skills of students and novice researchers in the methodologies and nuances of scientific research, starting from the scientific hypothesis, through data collection, and ending with publication.
