Jazan University: Media Department

The Forum of Heads of Scientific Departments "Track 3" commended the importance of the scientific departments playing their role in motivating faculty members to play their role in academics, research, development and quality. It is vital in providing students with the skills of the twenty-first century as per the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to qualify them for the labor market. The efforts are to develop the academic performance of faculty members, to circulate the multi-division course guide, to govern scientific departments by aligning with the strategy of Jazan University, and to provide faculty members with the requisite academic and leadership skills.

This came at the Forum of Heads of Scientific Departments, which was launched this morning at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology auditorium under the title "Governance of the Performance of the Scientific Departments". The forum is being conducted under the patronage of His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, who stressed in his speech the importance of the scientific department balancing its educational, knowledge, skill, research and societal objectives, in addition to its goal in supporting entrepreneurship. He stated that the department is the main axis in the educational process at the university, as many of the decisions it issues are as per the university administration and the decisions of the department councils. The department heads are the main focus for achieving the University’s goals, pointing to the department’s role in supporting and advancing scientific research at the university and encouraging faculty members to publish their research at the local, regional and global levels and obligating them to do so. He added that one of the tasks of the department is the assessment of faculty members and to be just and transparent in this task, explaining the necessity of choosing department heads with great care. There are a large number of effective and distinguished scientific departments, so we thank them and we are waiting for the rest to follow their example, stressing the need for the department to communicate directly with students, support them and take the initiative to solve their scientific and academic problems.

For his part, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, who is also the forum Supervisor, Dr. Hassan Ishaq, explained that the Forum, in its third session, seeks to advance the educational process, ensure its quality, and work on developing the academic performance. He stressed that the head of the department is primarily responsible for developing the department administratively, academically, and in research, contributing to community service, and setting standards for performance measurement and governance.

The forum sessions also discussed a number of scientific, academic, research and administrative topics and themes in three sessions.
