Dr. Ibrahim Al-Sumaili, Jazan University alumnus Innovates new methods for skull base surgery

The College of Medicine at Jazan University celebrates its graduates who have become leaders in various government and private sectors, and have reached enviable positions in their professions in the medical field, in addition to their contribution towards their nation and community.

Dr. Ibrahim bin Ali Al-Sumaili, a specialist in otolaryngology, is one of the graduates of the Faculty of Medicine, batch of 2011. He has developed two new surgical methods to operate on the paranasal sinuses and the base of the skull. He also published more than 25 research papers in specialized scientific journals, and participated in scientific studies in more than 27 conferences. Regionally and internationally, he performed many rare surgeries and published studies on them, and contributed to the training of many surgeons in advanced surgeries. Dr. Al-Sumaili also obtained five patents from the American Patent Office for his invention of surgical tools and devices, in addition to publishing two studies on a new method for evaluation and follow-up of erosion of the base of the skull and eye socket due to sinus infections. He is currently working at the King Fahad Hospital in Jazan.

The Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Anwar Makin, expressed his pride in the faculty’s staff, professors and students, praising the support of His Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, His Highness the Governor of Jazan and His Highness the acting Governor of the region.
