Students of Al-Jaradiyah Secondary School in Samtah Governorate visit the Chemistry Department

Under the patronage of Her Excellency the Vice Dean of the College of Science - Female Section, Dr. Amna Shamakhi, the Student Activity Unit of the Chemistry Department organized a field visit to Al-Jaradiyah Secondary School in Samtah Governorate to mark the Arab Week of Chemistry with the participation of students and teachers of the school.

Dr. Abeer Aqili, Assistant Head of the Chemistry Department, Dr. Aisha Madkhali, Assistant Head of the Physics Department and the Community Partnership Officer, Dr. Yusra Muzaffar, Assistant Head of the Biology Department, welcomed the visitors along with a number of faculty members in the Chemistry Department, Dr. Zizi El-Badrawi, Dr. Rasha Abdel Nasser, and Ms. Fatima Al-Hazmi and a number of college students.

The employees of the Faculty of Science were received by the school principal, Ms. Amna Daghriri, the chemistry teacher, Ms. Sana Madkhali, and the head of community partnership in the school, Ms. Amira Al-Shami. The school students carried out some activities, and they exchanged ideas and projects. The college students explained and implemented some Practical experiments, such as making cosmetics and moisturizers from natural, non-harmful materials, explaining essential oils, their benefits, their medical uses, and the method of their extraction. One of the students spoke about the branches of chemistry and the areas of work of chemists. The students on both sides carried out some interesting practical experiments, such as changing density, the volcano, and the balloon inflation experiment.

The visit aims to educate secondary school students about the importance of chemistry, its life applications, and fields of work for graduates of the Chemistry Department, as well as educating students about everything that Jazan University does in carrying out its role as an educational institution, promoting social responsibility, and enhancing communication with all sections of society.

In the end, the assistant heads of departments present at the event gave a speech expressing their happiness at attending and urged the students to excel and study science and its importance in our lives and inviting them to attend the Faculty of Science exhibition, God willing. They thanked the school principal, teachers and students for the warm reception and generous hospitality.
