More than 11 thousand students enrolled at the English Language Institute at Jazan University

The English Language Institute at Jazan University exerts all efforts to enhance and develop the academic and scientific process through education, training and translation activities, and the institute’s objectives are in line with the University’s role and vision in achieving development, spreading knowledge and excellence in research and innovation in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 vision in addition to the Institute’s tasks in teaching English language programs. This year, the institute is teaching English language to more than 11,486 students, with the number of teaching staff being 296 faculty members.

Dr. Abdullah Al-Zughaibi, the Dean of the Institute, explained that the Institute’s work map has expanded over the past two years in terms of renewal, innovation and exit from traditional teaching methods to the world of online and interactive teaching. Dr. Al-Zughaibi added that the institute had implemented a number of programs during the last period, the most prominent of which were; Holding training courses to develop the institute’s employees, including faculty members, teaching assistants, lecturers, and language teachers, and setting up specialized training in cooperation with international institutes and publishing houses. The institute also translates a number of materials and files for bodies within the university, and translates the research of the university’s faculty members. The total of what has been translated and revised in the second quarter of last year alone is approximately 290 documents.

Dr. Al-Zughaibi confirmed that the institute is preparing to launch master’s programs in English for non-native speakers from next year, and the launching of a regular enrichment and training program with a scientific symposium every two weeks. It continues to hold virtual seminars due to the current conditions of the Corona virus pandemic, in addition to training on the approved e-learning system platform “Blackboard”, with 6 training workshops per week, with continued virtual support and responding to questions about the platform through communication channels.
