Since its inception, Jazan University has functioned according to well-thought-out plans to achieve its role in the development and construction of the community and the place. It has succeeded in achieving the quality of its graduates and programs, until the university obtained full institutional accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment to achieve the highest standards of accreditation and quality in performance, in addition to excellent performance shown by our students in the Health Specialties Authority exams. The university was also able to excel in scientific research, as the report issued by the Research, Development and Innovation Observatory of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology revealed that the university achieved an advanced position among the top 10 universities and research institutions in the Kingdom.

Jazan University’s journey has continued since its inception 15 years ago with successive achievements in rebuilding its strategy and vision, and in developing its academic and administrative structure in line with the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision and with the new university system.

A pioneering experience in e-learning

The university’s plan for the transformation of e-learning after announcing the suspension of studies due to the Coronavirus pandemic reflected the university’s experience with this type of education, given the advanced technologies and systems that the university possesses, and is a pioneer in the field of e-learning. Since the first day of the suspension of studies, more than 45,000 male and female students could continue their studies smoothly and concluded their educational journey while the University ensured quality and continuity of the educational and academic process in all colleges, institutes and stages of study. The Deanship of E-learning and IT designed 16 training manuals for students and faculty members, and qualified and supported more than 23 e-learning units. The university’s faculties include about 60 members who speak Arabic and English, in addition to approving the implementation of 67 training courses to use the system, thus the university’s e-learning system accommodated more than 50 thousand students.

Advanced centers

The university graduates achieved advanced results in the tests of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, so the university’s excellence stems from the excellence of its students and employees from the faculty and administrators. The university’s students were known for competition and seriousness in university studies, and their achievement of these impressive results embodied their distinction.

In addition to that the colleges have the best and strongest programs and study plans, in addition to the distinction of faculty members and the administrative and financial support that all the university’s colleges enjoy.

The university results for the current year witnessed an increase in the number of test takers and a higher pass rate compared to last year’s exams.

287 dental clinics

Dental clinics have achieved multiple successes in community service based on the university’s role in human and community development, as the college’s clinics are now 287 that provide services in several specialties such as oral surgery, periodontal treatment, dental fillings, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, fixtures and diagnostic radiology. The clinics last year had about 10,563 files, of which 5,823 files were for men, and 4,735 files for women.

Research

And as a culmination of the dedication of the university’s researchers, we have achieved an advanced position, as the report issued by the Research, Development and Innovation Observatory of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology revealed that Jazan University has achieved an advanced position among the top 10 universities and research institutions in the Kingdom in the field of scientific research related to the emerging coronavirus.

The university has worked to enrich and support scientific research on the Coronavirus since the beginning of the emergence and spread of the virus, with the follow-up and support of His Excellency the President of the University, Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, and his constant encouragement for researchers from the faculty to conduct studies and research.

Graduate Studies

The Deanship of Graduate Studies at the university has taken developmental steps to introduce a number of academic programs and specializations to obtain the master’s and higher diploma degrees, as more than 120 male and female students attended 27 postgraduate programs for the academic year 1441 AH.

The university is keen to open the way for all male and female students to fulfill their aspirations by opening many specializations in postgraduate studies that are in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and enable them to benefit from the experiences and competencies that Jazan University includes from members of the teaching staff in various scientific and theoretical disciplines and their branches.

Students from 33 countries

Jazan University has offered scholarships to 808 students from 33 countries, and the University provides them, through the Deanship of Student Affairs, many privileges and services, such as a monthly bonus disbursement, and a processing allowance upon their arrival through the student fund. The university’s embrace of international scholarship students is an extension of the efforts that the Kingdom provides to support and assist to many countries and peoples of the world based on its Islamic and international standing and its role in spreading knowledge. The university has also worked to integrate scholarship students in all enrichment activities socially, culturally and sports, in addition to introducing them to the national and cultural achievements and milestones.

Responsibility towards community

And based on its societal responsibility, the university increased this year 1442 AH, the intake for diploma programs at the Deanship of Community Service by 30%, in order to meet the region’s needs for training and rehabilitation programs and courses consistent with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the requirements of modern development.

The number of candidates for admission to the programs and diplomas of the Deanship totaled more than 6,542 male and female students for the academic year 1442 AH, while the available programs are 17.

Summer training

The Deanship of Student Affairs at the university implemented a package of free summer training programs “remotely” for university students from various colleges and supporting deanships during the summer of the year 1441 AH. The 16 training programs belonged to five major categories: such as knowledge, intellectual capabilities, communication skills, research governance, skills for Recruitment and leadership. In all 6 hours of training per course were imparted by a group of trainers from among the university’s faculty.

Academic development

During the past year 1441 AH, the Deanship of Academic Development at the university implemented a number of training programs for faculty members, locally and internationally, after studying the training needs of faculty members. The development of the skills of faculty members at the university is a fundamental pillar in the educational process, as 1245 faculty members benefited from training programs during the current year, as 1,186 faculty members locally and 59 internationally were trained.

Human Development

The number of beneficiaries of the training programs directed at university employees reached 1105 male and female employees, which were implemented inside and outside the Kingdom during the current year 1440/1441 AH, to develop the functional skills of employees by providing them with knowledge to carry out their responsibilities and job tasks efficiently and effectively, that are in line with the National Training Program plan for the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision.

Coronavirus crisis

The university has contributed to supporting the efforts of the state health services in facing the Coronavirus pandemic by organizing a volunteer awareness team, in addition to handing over the student residence building No. 2 to the District Health Affairs Directorate to be used as for isolation wards. to isolate suspected and infected cases of Coronavirus. From early on, the University proactively participated in volunteering as per the directives of His Excellency the Minister of Education Dr. Hamad Al Sheikh. The student housing building, which is designated for isolation, consists of 5 floors and includes 220 rooms with a capacity of 660 beds. The rooms are equipped with all facilities and services. The building also includes a clinic for health examination and an administrative office.

The university has also worked to equip a medical center to confront the Coronavirus with a capacity of 220 beds, and it will be available in coordination with Jizan Health Ministry.
