Jazan University signs 20 contracts for research projects funded by the Ministry of Education

His Excellency the President of Jazan University, Prof. Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, witnessed the signing ceremony of contracts with researchers from the university’s faculty for 20 research projects. These are within the Ministry of Education’s Institutional Funding Program for Research, Development and Innovation and the signing took place this morning at the University Council.

His Excellency indicated that scientific research is one of the University’s main pillars for its role in developing knowledge, enriching it and disseminating it, and seeking to employ it to solve the various problems facing the community. The objective is to find creative solutions based on local resources, as it is one of the most important indicators of quality and distinction in the ranking of universities locally, regionally and internationally.

While the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Muhammad bin Hassan Abu Rasin, explained that the University is focused in its strategy for research and innovation on three research directions that develop its identity and achieves the Vision 2030 of the Kingdom. Dr. Abu Rasin referred to the Deanship of Scientific Research that many workshops were conducted by them and more than 60 persons participated in them. The researchers in specializations represent the various faculties of the University, and 20 projects were approved out of the 98 research proposals submitted for this initiative launched by the Deanship.

The Dean of Scientific Research, Dr.Ahmed Abdelhaq stated that the projects met the needs of the region according to priority, as they included: integrated control of agricultural pests and disease vectors, the manufacture of medicines from natural sources, in addition to promising areas that include water and energy sources, sustainable agriculture, the marine environment and community development.
