The Innovation Centre at Jazan University creates a database of innovators
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Jazan University has created a database to collect innovations and entrepreneurial initiatives for university employees (male and female students, faculty members, employees) and members of the local community in its endeavor to spread the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. In order to keep track of the efforts and innovations of the university’s employees and the local community and for promoting the distinguished and creative projects in local and international exhibitions and competitions, attracting supporting agencies, and providing financial and technical support.
137 patents
The supervisor of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Nayef Madhkour, explained that the patent and registration statistics totalled 137 projects, of which 128 were for university employees and 9 from outside the university community, while 144 individuals participated in all of these works, including 105 female students, 12 students, 18 faculty members and employees at the university and 6 Of private education students and 3 individuals.
Patent registration
The patents for invention from the Saudi Patent Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office have registered two patents for faculty and administrators, while the registration for patents from the Saudi Patent Office has registered 11 patents: 1 for male students, 5 for female students, 4 for faculty and administrators, and a patent for education students.
Meaningful agreements
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Jazan University joined the national network of intellectual property support centers at the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property by signing a cooperation agreement between the two sides, to increase knowledge of the advantages of intellectual property rights in general and information on patents, and to provide assistance to innovators in researching the rules, intellectual and technical property data and its analysis to meet the technical needs in addition to enabling access and benefit from the technical and scientific expertise of the network.
Training courses
Among the most prominent services provided by the National Network of Intellectual Property Support Centers include guidance and direction on the resources needed to support the innovation process, from the origin of the idea and its protection to the marketing of the product, in addition to assistance in searching for technical information contained in the databases of scientific and technical publications and journals free or commercial (other than intellectual property requests Or patents), in addition to training courses and workshops, in partnership between the Innovation Center and the National Network of Intellectual Property Support Centers, directed to faculty members and students of Jazan University on the concept of intellectual property, how to research previous technologies, and how to register for a patent.
Modeling and fabrication
Among the achievements of the University’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is the accession of the Digital Fabrication Laboratory (FABLAB Jazan) to the World Organization for Digital Manufacturing Factories. The procedures for joining the laboratory have been completed through the FABLABS.IO platform. The website of the FABLABS.IO platform includes a list of local and international modeling and digital fabrication laboratories. In addition, a webpage has been allocated on the same site to introduce the services provided, equipment and supplies available in the Fab Lab, Jazan University.
