E-learning and IT unit ELIT at the Faculty of Science was established to keeping up development in modern learning techniques that rely on virtual classes or the so-called e-learning. ELIT plays a fundamental and pivotal role in activating the E-learning methods in the college by spreading these new services between all faculty members, employees and students, which contributes to improving the educational process, improving the outputs, and achieving the required academic quality. On the other hand, ELIT provides technical support to all target groups of students, faculty members and employees of the college. ELIT unit is linked administratively to the vice-deanship for development.

Developing educational process in college by encouraging, motivating and enabling students and faculty members to benefit from all e-learning practices, modern technologies and Internet and provide them technical support in a way that achieves quality standards and the university’s strategic goals.

• Spreading awareness of e-learning culture among students, faculty and staff of college to ensure development of the educational process.
• Improving educational outcomes and providing students with the new skills required in the era of knowledge economy.
• Developing skills and abilities of students, faculty and staff of college to use modern and advanced technologies in the field of e-learning through implementation of training courses and workshops.
• Motivating transferring  classic courses to electronic courses that attract and encourage students through implementing training courses and workshops.
• Overcoming the difficulties that faculty members and students face in managing their account on the e-learning system.
• Developing college’s labs and computer centers to benefit from them in e-learning.

✍ Tasks:

• Organizing and implementing training courses and workshops on e-learning for targeted groups (students, faculty, and staff).
• Supporting faculty members to convert classic courses into electronic courses that are available to students to view and benefit from them at any time.
• Providing technical support to users of e-learning system to overcome any problems facing them.
• Supervising college’s computer center and labs and equipping it with necessary programs, devices and technologies to facilitate students in following up e-learning lectures.
• Implementing electronic correction process for college’s tests and analyzing questionnaires.
• Follow up the maintenance computers, smart boards, and various teaching techniques.
• Submit periodic reports to relevant authorities about unit activities and events.
