Documenting references in scientific research is one of the most important steps that researchers must take when implementing a scientific research plan. According on that, the Scientific Research Unit at the University College in Al-Ardah organized a workshop entitled “The Art of Documenting References in Research Publications” on Thursday february 25, 2021 AD via the Zoom platform and in the presence of 30 members of the faculty. The workshop was presented by Dr. Muhammad Fathallah. The workshop aimed to introduce the basics of documentation and its importance and the most important methods used for documentation and writing references. The workshop included a number of axes, including the definition of documentation of references in scientific research, the concept The talk of documenting references, the importance of writing references in scientific research, types of documenting references in scientific research. The workshop also included the most important methods used for documentation in the text, which are the digital sign method, the Harvard system method, and the American Psychological Association (APA) method. At the end of the workshop, the importance of writing references was emphasized  to prove the sources of information and refer them to their owners, taking into account the scientific integrity, and in recognition of the efforts of others and their scientific rights. References highlight the value of the research and emphasize the researcher's knowledge and breadth of experience. It also indicates how recent the information returned to by the researcher.
