Universal Test Machine

Instron is a computer-controlled unit powered by a hydraulic system. Metals and alloys of various categories can be tested in terms of tensile and compressive behavior under static and dynamic loading conditions. Also, the bending tests and fatigue behavior of metal and alloys can also be studied using this instrument. It is a computer-controlled operative system in which the loading conditions can be fixed for different types of metal and alloys. The software accompanying the machine provides complete stress-strain graphs with all the necessary data.

Electromechanical universal testing machine

A universal testing machine is a computer-controlled unit powered by an electrical system. Metals and alloys of various categories can be tested in terms of tensile and compressive behavior under static loading conditions. It is a computer-controlled operative system in which the loading conditions can be fixed for different types of metal and alloys. The software accompanying the machine provides complete stress-strain graphs with all the necessary data.

Manual clamping machine

It is a computer-controlled clamping machine that can be operated manually. Tensile, compression, and hardness tests can be carried out using this machine. All necessary accessories are available to conduct different types of tests. The range of load operation is from 0 to 15 kN. A rotating lever is utilized to apply load manually. The software control can be utilized to carry out various types of tests aforementioned.

An optical microscope is used to observe the micrographs of metals and alloys at various magnifications namely 10X, 20X 40X, and 100 X. Various metals and alloy surfaces can be observed by this instrument.

Electrical furnace (6000)

The electrical furnace has a Digital display of temperature. Metal and alloy specimens of dimensions up to 15 cm x 20 cm 25 cm can be heat treated using this furnace. The temperature range is from 35 0C to 1000 0C. The accuracy is ± 1 0C.

Small press machine

Digitalized display accompanied by the manual press can be used to compact powders of metals, alloys, and ceramics. Powder metallurgical products can be produced by this pressing machine. A manually operating lever and piston set up is used to press the powders in a die.

Brinell & Vickers hardness tester

The Brinell and Vickers hardness tester is attached with the digitalized display and printer. Different indenters like hardened steel ball for Brinell hardness and diamond pyramid-shaped indenter for Vickers hardness test can be chosen. The load is set according to the type of material is in experimentation.

Brinell  hardness tester

The Brinell hardness tester is attached to the display system. Indenters are hardened steel balls of diameters 5mm and 10 mm are available for the Brinell hardness test. The load is set according to the type of material is in experimentation. 500 Kg, 1000 Kg, and 1500 Kg loads are available.

Charpy impact tester

Computer-controlled impact tester contains two pendulums for different maximum impact energies namely 150 J and 300 J. The dial is set for two types of tests using different pendulums. The pre rising angle is 150°. Angle accuracy is ±0.1°. Resolution is 1 J.

Specimen preparation machine

For the Charpy impact test, the specimen preparation requires making a V notch of depth 2mm and the angle between the edges of the notch is 45°. This machine is capable of producing a V notch in the test specimen.

The manual impact test machine

Manually operating Charpy type impact tester contains two pendulums of maximum impact energies namely 15 Nm and 25 Nm. The prepared specimen according to specification is placed in the specimen holder before the pendulum is raised to the lever point. When the lever Butten is pressed, the pendulum is released for a high rest point to hit the specimen. The dial shows the corresponding impact energy by means of the needle pointing number.

Torsion test machine

A computerized torsion tester has a torque capacity of 2000 Nm. It is capable of testing specimens of a length of 20 inches and a diameter of 1 inch. Angle resolution is 0.001°. Twist angle accuracy is ± 1 %. The prepared specimen is fixed between the specimen holders and the required speed is set in the system ( 1- 20 Nm/sec) in accordance with the specimen requirement. The graph between angle versus torque is registered in the system.

Bending fatigue test machine

The bending fatigue testing machine has a digital display to register the number of cycles for failure. The specimen is held between two ends of the specimen holder and is subjected to point load at one end by a spring balance setup. The electrical motor runs until the specimen fails and stops automatically when the specimen deforms. The number of loading cycles for the failure of each specimen is registered versus the stress amplitude can be plotted to find the endurance limit.

Ball bearing test

The ball bearing tester is a computerized testing machine to test the presence of defects in ball bearings. The machine uses frequency versus amplitude plots to sense the defect present in the ball bearings. The software installed in the system plots the graph between amplitude and frequency.

Creep tester

The creep tester is accompanied by digitalized temperature controller and a display unit. The temperature bath encompasses the specimen holder so that the temperature of the specimen can be varied. The creep test can be carried out at various temperatures. A loading system is existing at the bottom of the tester. According to the specimen and the test, the load and the specimen temperature can be set using the digitalized controller. Load cell senses the extension in the specimen and the same can be registered against the time.

The parameters of polishing (speed, load, time, etc.) can be matched according to the properties of the specimen. High-quality samples can be prepared with minimal effort by the operator.

Sputter coater

It is a coating unit to coat metallic thin films on specimens subjected to micro graphical analysis in the scanning electron microscope (SEM). The K500X can be used with a film thickness monitor, which measures the thickness of coating deposited on a crystal in the chamber, and hence calculates the thickness deposited on the sample to give qualitative repeatable coatings.

Neytech Qex

Scanning Electron Microscopy

SEM contains a tungsten filament electron source and a vacuum chamber in which a specimen holder is existing. The vacuum of 10-5 Pascals can be achieved. It contains a secondary electron detector specimen to be subjected to micro graphical analysis is coated with a metallic thin film by a sputter coater.
