MY PURPOSE STATEMENT

 

As an Academic Educator my purpose is to encourage students to attain their potential for effective learning and broad knowledge.  As a scientist my purpose is to conduct research that will benefit communities and improve the understanding of Physics especially in fields of optics, photonics and laser and utilize their peculiar characteristics for more practical and useful applications for scientific services, environment and communities.

12/2005 – 6/2008     PhD degree of Science in Physics with thesis entitled of  (“Coupling and Pigtailing of Photonic Devices Using Laser Welding Technique”) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Johor, Malaysia.

 

9/2001- 5/2003     M.Sc. degree of Science in Physics, with oriented research project in (Photothermal studies on Chalcopyrite Semiconductor Thin Films). Obtained a first class with distinction (grade, 8.25 out of 10), Cochin University of Science and Technology, Cochin, India.

 

9/1994 – 7/1997    B.Sc. degree (Honored) in Applied Science / Laser physics from the University of Technology (Baghdad, Iraq),  Obtained a first class with distinction (ranked the first among all the departments of Faculty of Applied Sciences).

§  Adequate International experience in academic and industrial consultation: laser materials processing and setting up laser interferometers through the Bureau of Innovation and Consultancy ( BIP, UTM, Malaysia, 2008-2009).

§  Adequate Experience in co-supervising and guiding postgraduate research students: Gained from the position of visiting lecturer at APSI UTM (Sep2008-Feb2009)

§   Practical experience in the area of statistical analysis, data entry methods, and extensive professional reporting.

§  Established the Photonic Research Lab at Physics Dept., Ibb University (2009:started with simple equipments)

§  Research and technical experience in laser materials processing systems & vacuum systems and their peripherals.

§  Adequate familiarity with most of Photonics / Optoelectronics systems applied for Optical Communications and Biophotonics.

§  Capability of employing MATLAB for coding and simulations for variety of applications.

§  Applied for a research grant from TWAS: The proposed research project,“ Development of Photonic Sensor for Detection of Heavy Metals and Other Pollutants in Drinking Water”, Fund Granted.

·       As the Students Coordinator at Faculty of science, organized many activities and public lectures for raising the awareness of student and community about many important issues, such as: AIDS risks and influences, Cancer signs & protections and self-promotion for recruitment competition.

·       Organized with National Foundation for Protection from Cancer, many campaigns inside Faculty of Science to support the Cancer Patients.

·       As the Team Leader of Community Partnership in the University Strategic Planning Panel: Leading the visiting some community sectors and promoting partnership with community for developing the University Academic Programs to fulfill the community needs and hence ensure the graduates recruitments.

·       Coordinated and visited more than 13 local private & public sectors in many cities to initiate a mutual collaboration for establishing and implementing the Applied Physics Program (2010).

·       Co-organized and coordinated a promotional workshop for community and C-12 students about the newly established Applied Physics Program (University (admission activities, June 2012).

·       Presented many public lectures and seminars on: (Laser medical applications), (Efficient use of internet resources for scientific research) and (Applications for worldwide scholarships and research funding: necessity & requirement).
