Research and consultancy contributions showcased at the Jazan University pavilion at the 10th Coffee Festival

Jazan University participated in the activities of the 10th Saudi Coffee Festival, which is organized by the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture and Water in Al-Dayer Governorate, and sponsored by His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jazan Region, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Abdulaziz bin Muhammad bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of the region.
Prince Muhammad bin Nasser toured the pavilion and listened to an explanation by His Excellency the President of Jazan University, Prof. Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, and the Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abu Rasin. The Governor was informed of the content of the university’s pavilion participating in the festival and highlighted the university’s contributions in supporting the production of coffee, the implementation of a number of initiatives and research projects to develop coffee cultivation, and training on the establishment of coffee farms as an investment.
Prof. Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, explained that Jazan University is considered a major contributor in the region's celebrations at the Coffee Festival because of its scientific and research impact, indicating that the university's pavilion reviews the most prominent environmental and agricultural research carried out by the Center for Environmental Research and Studies, which supports Coffee farmers and developing their capabilities, through the implementation of many workshops and training courses that focus on the correct scientific methods of coffee cultivation, and pest control to achieve the highest quality rates in production and increase the yield according to scientific standards.
For her part, the Acting Dean of Scientific Research at the University, Dr. Ibtisam Masmali, explained that the university's participation in this festival is through its pavilion, in which it displays the university's contributions in the research fields through the multiple support by the university and the Ministry of Education represented by institutional funding and the international cooperation initiative.
While the Director of the Center for Research and Environmental Studies at the university, Prof. Dr. Hanan bint Abu Al-Qasim Basali, informed that the university pavilion highlighted the most important research and scientific posts that are related to the definition and classification of coffee types produced by coffee farms in the region and introducing farmers to eliminate insects and pests that affect coffee trees and ways to avoid and control them. In addition, the university pavilion organized a number of awareness and educational lectures for farmers and festival visitors.
