"Coronavirus Pandemic, National Transformation and Endemic Diseases" on the First Day of Medical Research Week 2022 at Jazan University

A group of speakers - doctors and researchers participated in the sessions of Medical Research Week 2022 at Jazan University on its first day. The first session was presided over by the Deputy Minister of Health and the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom, Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdali. He talked about the impact of scientific research on the Coronavirus pandemic in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the success that the country achieved, thanks to God, and then thanks to the scientific research teams that worked by evaluating the available research and producing it in order to come up with the best evidence-based medical decisions that helped us overcome the pandemic and get ahead of it as soon as possible.
While the Executive Director of Innovation and Knowledge Translation at the Saudi Health Research Authority, Dr. Sultan Al-Mubarak, spoke about the support opportunities provided and the need to improve the work related to translating research and transferring it from theoretical research to practical programs that help improve human health and control diseases. In addition to the research priorities that the authority attaches and which is covers areas like mental health, infectious and emerging diseases, cancer research, and chronic diseases such as diabetes, stress, and heart disease.
The professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the College of Medicine, Dr. Ibrahim Qasadi, also spoke about some endemic, emerging and chronic diseases in Jazan region and the extent of the challenges facing decision-makers, as well as success stories and national efforts that made it possible to overcome these diseases.
The sessions of the first day were concluded by Assistant Professor, Department of Applied Laboratory Technology, College of Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Abdullah Al-Qaisi, speaking about the Coronavirus that causes Covid 19 disease and how it began, originated and spread until it caused the pandemic, and he also talked about the great national efforts that controlled the virus and helped us to come out from the pandemic.
After that, the students of the health colleges presented a number of various presentations that sought to link the outputs of research projects with community health needs, and highlighted the development of the organization and culture of scientific research in the health colleges.
