President of Jazan University: On the occasion of the Kingdom’s 92nd National Day, we are proud of our long and illustrious history and giant achievements

His Excellency the President of Jazan University, Prof. Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, on behalf of the University’s employees and students, extended greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz AlSaud, and to His Royal Highness Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense - may God preserve them- and to the honorable Saudi people on the occasion of the 92nd National Day of the Kingdom. He expressed his pride in the development and giant accomplishments that have been achieved by the country since His Majesty King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud - may his soul rest in peace – in establishing the homeland based on Islamic monotheism.

His Excellency said: Ninety-two years of pride in our country and the giant strides in development so that the Saudi people enjoy a modern, safe and prosperous life, which makes every Saudi proud of his unique homeland in his unity and wise leadership - may God preserve it. The Kingdom witnessed, after the launch of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, a qualitative leap and exceptional achievements that enabled it to raise the quality of life, enhancing the Kingdom’s position, and developing and investing its resources in order to achieve sustainable development and build a promising and advanced future.

Dr. Al-Qahtani indicated that the support that Jazan University enjoys from the wise leadership - may God bless it - and the follow-up from His Excellency the Minister of Education enabled it to attain successive achievements in building the people, serving society and developing the place within a short period of time, noting the approval of the Council of Ministers to create 137 Assistant Professor positions, and 272 Lecturer positions, within the budget of Jazan University for the fiscal year 1443/1444 AH. He added that the university has witnessed rapid growth and development in all fields, where more than 50 thousand students are now studying in 21 colleges, and they are taught by 2388 faculty members. In addition, the University continues to develop its students’ capabilities by allowing 533 male and female students on scholarships to pursue further education at the most prestigious universities in the world, and the return of 425 male and female students holding doctorate degrees.

Dr. Al-Qahtani stressed that the university has achieved qualitative achievements over the past years, the most important of which is obtaining full and unconditional institutional accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Authority, as well as the accreditation of most of its programs from local and international institutions and bodies, the latest of which was the ABET accreditation for 6 academic programs in the faculties: Engineering, and Industrial Applications in Baysh.

In the field of financial sustainability and spending efficiency, the Dr. Al-Qahtani explained that the university achieved third place in spending efficiency among the Kingdom’s government agencies. And in the Saudization of jobs, resulted in the university achieving first place in the job link initiative in the category of educational bodies and institutions, according to what was announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.

His Excellency stressed that the University is continuing its community service programs by providing professional development programs, as the number of beneficiaries increased from 980 in 2016 to more than 7882 beneficiaries in 2021. Its team has identified more than 400 archaeological sites throughout the region. In the field of digital development, the university has been able to develop digital infrastructure with an achievement rate of 100%, relying on self-employment with the investment of its Saudi graduates, in addition to its success in popularizing and implementing applications that link with government platforms, establishing a beneficiary services system, and launching the electronic services platform for university employees.

Dr. Al-Qahtani noted the excellence of the university’s researchers locally and globally, pointing out that the university achieved 12th place in the Kingdom, 44th among Arab universities, 88th in the Middle East, and 526th at the global level, in the SCIMAGO classification in the year 2021, and also achieved 14 patents in different fields, including 4 patents registered globally. In terms of scientific publication, the number of research published in the Scopus database increased from 374 research papers in 2017 to more than 1,427 in 2021. The university ranked among the top 10 universities and research institutions in the Kingdom in publishing research related to the Corona virus.

At the conclusion of his statement, the President of Jazan University stressed the passion and determination of the university’s employees and students to move forward in achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 in order to achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership - may God protect them - in building people who contribute to the Saudi development process efficiently and competently, and to be competitive in international forums.
