Jazan University launches activities of Environment Week

Jazan University Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Muhammad bin Hassan Abu Rasin, stressed the importance of preserving and protecting the environment in a way that benefits humans and contributes to the growth and development of all living creatures, noting that the University has many initiatives related to environmental preservation and increasing green spaces. Also several initiatives have been undertaken to spread awareness about caring for them.
This came during the inauguration of the activities of the Environment Week initiative entitled "To Conserve", which was organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs in the Student Garden in the University City this evening, in the presence of the University's vice presidents, deans of faculties and supporting deanships.
Dr. Abu Rasin also inaugurated the exhibition held on this occasion to showcase the work of university students, which aims to promote the concept of sustainability and the use of renewable resources, display models for sustainable projects, show biodiversity, and display innovative ways to protect and preserve the environment.
The initiative included a campaign to clean the campus, and plant 1,000 trees distributed over the areas designated for planting in the university city and colleges, in addition to a "plastic recycling" workshop presented by the supervisor of the Environmental Research Center at the university, Dr. Zarraq bin Eisa Al-Fayfi.
For her part, the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Ashwaq Al-Bakri, explained that the initiative is being implemented with the participation of the Center for Environmental Research and Studies, the General Administration of Operation, Maintenance and Cleanliness, and the Department of Afforestation and Irrigation.
