Jazan University, in coordination with the Presidency of State Security, organized a lecture entitled “Threats to National Security”, presented by the Adviser at the Presidency of State Security, Major General Engineer Bassam bin Zaki Attia. The lecture was conducted this morning at the College of Arts and Humanities auditorium in the University City, in the presence of His Excellency the University President, Prof. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, a number of directors of government and security agencies in the region, university students and faculty members.
The meeting began with a speech by the President, Prof. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, in which he welcomed His Excellency Major General Bassam Attia, and thanked His Excellency the President of the Presidency of State Security, Professor Abdulaziz Al-Huwairini, for his support of the initiatives that enhance the dissemination of knowledge and awareness of the risks that threaten state security and the role of the citizen in protecting the nation.
Major General Bassam Attia addressed, during his lecture, a number of concepts related to national security threats and their definitions, methods of discovery and stages of mitigating them, determinants of national culture and levels of national security, regional and global variables affecting the role of national security, and dimensions of national security represented in a number of economic, military, social and religious aspects, ideological, geopolitical, environmental and technical, in addition to the political dimension.
After the lecture, discussions were held and the floor was thrown open for questions. The session was moderated by the Supervisor of the General Administration of Public Relations and Media, Mr. Musa Muharraq.
