Jazan University has achieved an advanced rank in the field of cancer control research and is among the Saudi universities with the highest scientific publishing in cancer research, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Education. The Ministry seeks to raise awareness regarding the dangers of cancer, develop preventive and diagnostic methods, and reduce its effects.

His Excellency the President of Jazan University, Prof. Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani affirmed the university’s keenness to develop the research and innovation system by developing research strategies that ensure optimal investment for the development of research infrastructure, strengthening national and global research partnerships, and developing research capabilities for faculty members, researchers and university students in various disciplines. The University wishes to ensure that the University’s employees play an active role by promoting research and developing a culture of innovation that would suitable serve the nation.

His Excellency added that the efforts made by the university in the field of health research are a reflection of the aspirations of our rational government, which paid attention to the citizens’ health and the community through the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and following the best international standards based on evidence-based health practices.

According to the Dean of Scientific Research at Jazan University, Dr. Ibrahim bin Muta'an Qasadi, Jazan University has achieved many research achievements in recent years, especially in the published research, where the percentage of publications in the Web of Science-ISI database has increased by 360% for the year 2021 compared to 2017, the number of research published in the Scopus database was 1250 research published in 2021, and the total number of citations for the university’s published research reached more than 27000 citations in 2021.

Dr. Qasadi indicated that the university published nearly 500 research papers in various health fields in 2021, and this is a reflection of meeting the national needs in research and innovation, which attaches great importance to public health.

Dr. Qasadi added that the university has published many qualitative research articles that focus on providing innovative solutions in the areas of cancer prevention, early diagnosis of the disease, improving health care, advanced treatments and combating cancer. Dr. Qasadi indicated that Jazan University is rich with distinguished researchers in various health fields in health colleges and specialized research centers such as the College of Dentistry, the College of Applied Medical Sciences, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Medicine and the Medical Research Center.
