Jazan University celebrates the International Day of the Arabic Language

His Excellency the President of Jazan University, Prof. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, inaugurated the celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which was organized by the College of Arts and Humanities represented in the Department of Arabic Language under the title “Arabic Language and Civilizational Communication”. The event took place at the College of Computer Science and Information Technology auditorium, in the presence of the university’s representatives, faculty members and teaching staff.
The Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, Dr. Jaber Maslamani, explained the importance of observing the International Day of the Arabic Language, based on the status of this language and the continuation of joint work to support and disseminate it and to tackle the most prominent challenges it faces today and to propose appropriate solutions. He praised His Excellency the President of the University for his continuous interest in establishing such events.
The celebration also included a student operetta, a play demonstrating the reality of the Arabic language and an exhibition for Arabic calligraphy.
On the other hand, a scientific symposium was held on this occasion, moderated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad bin Hamoud Habibi, during which Prof. Dr. Abdul Qawi Muhammad Al-Hussaini, Professor of Modern Literature and Criticism at the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the University, presented a scientific paper entitled: Arabs and India: Historical Relations, Cultural Exchange, and Knowledge Communication.
Dr. Tanweer bint Ahmed Hindi, Associate Professor of Rhetoric and Criticism in the Department of Arabic Language at the University, presented a paper entitled “Non-Arab scholars who have enriched Arab culture”
Dr. Hudhayfa bin Hadi Madkhali, Assistant Professor of Tourism Management and Marketing at the University’s College of Business Administration, presented a paper entitled “Educational Tourism: Teaching Arabic to non-native speakers as a means of cultural communication and a tool for economic growth.
The symposium concluded with a paper by Dr. Abdul-Samad bin Hadi Sahli, Assistant Professor of Media and Public relations at the University’s Department of Journalism and Media, titled “The Arabic Language in Contemporary Media and Globalization”.
