Jazan University: Media Department

Jazan University wrapped up the activities of the first Saudi Universities Theater Festival, which was launched under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Education.

The Dean of Student Affairs and President of the Festival, Dr. Othman bin Musa Hakami, gave a speech in which he announced King Saud University as the hosts for the second edition of the Saudi Universities Theater Festival. He also stressed Jazan University's pride in organizing the event under the patronage of the Minister of Education, expressing his thanks to the participating delegations, the Committee of Deans of Student Affairs, the Theater and Performing Arts Authority, and the university's organizing committees that enjoyed the support of the University President, Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani.

While the CEO of the Theater and Performing Arts Authority Mr. Sultan Al-Bazai congratulated Jazan University on the distinction and success of organizing the first Saudi Universities Theater Festival.

After that, the head of the jury, Dr. Muhammad Habibi, reviewed the committee’s recommendations and announced the festival’s awards. The Jury Appreciation Award for Scenography was conferred on the “Al-Mawqooq” performance by Jazan University, the Jury Appreciation Award for the best first-time participation, “From Below” by Northern Border University, and Rakan Al-Salem from Northern Border University won the Jury Prize. Appreciation prize for the best promising actor debutant.

 The festival awards were as follows: The best play script award for student writers won by Taif University and Taif University won the best scenography award and the best theater director award.

The student Muhammad Al-Juaid from King Abdulaziz University won the award for the best actor in a leading role, and the award for the best actor went to student Abdulwahab Fendi from King Khalid University for the “Wooden Legs Exhibition” show.
