Jazan University signs a memorandum of understanding with Saline Water Conversion Corporation
His Excellency the President of Jazan University, Prof. Dr. Mar’ei bin Hussein Al-Qahtani, and His Excellency the Director of the Saline Water Conversion Corporation, Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-AbdulKarim, signed a Memorandum of Understanding “remotely”. The MOU is aimed at expanding areas of cooperation of mutual interest between the two parties to provide training and research opportunities for students of the College of Engineering. In addition to enhancing technical, technical and training cooperation and making use of the capabilities available to each party, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
His Excellency Dr. Al-Qahtani explained the importance of such an agreement, which is conducive towards achieving the University’s pioneering role in the fields of technical research and scientific development related to the actual needs of the development and manufacturing sectors in the Kingdom through applied research, adding that the articles of the memorandum include the benefits of the outputs of scientific and research cooperation. This will provide opportunities for University students to train at the institution, and benefit from the human resources, infrastructure and research opportunities available to both parties.
For his part, His Excellency Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkarim, indicated that the corporation’s role is not limited to producing desalinated water and electricity, but rather it pays great attention to research, development and training in relation to seawater desalination technologies to indigenize these technologies and work to support innovation and opportunities in this area.
Eng. Al-Abdulkarim emphasized that Jazan University has made significant contributions in all areas of development, as it has launched a number of projects and initiatives in support of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, in addition to the excellence of its scientific research, the quality of its graduates, and its keeping pace with the Saudi labor market requirements.
