Rua obtained her BSc (Second Hons) degree in Computer Science from Taibah University, Madinah, Saudi Arabia in 2007. She completed her MSc degree in Computer Science / Intelligent Systems from the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2012.  Recently, in 2020, she graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Loughborough University, UK. 

She joined Jazan University as a Teaching Assistant in Computer Science in July 2008 and was promoted to a Lecturer in 2012. She was awarded the title of Assistant Professor at Jazan University in 2020. She is currently working in teaching, supervising graduation projects, and is a member of the AI research committee. Her research interests are Game development using AI techniques, machine learning, and Deep Learning. Some of her research findings are currently used by Falcon Eye Drones Ltd., Dubai, UAE, and Desert Conservation Reserve for object detection and recognition in Drone footage using deep learning modeling.  

Currently, she has been appointed as the Coordinator of the Quality Assurance Unit at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information System, Jazan University.
