Welcome from Chair of the Department
On behalf of my colleagues in the Department of Arabic Language at Jazan University, I am pleased to welcome our esteemed visitors and knowledge seekers to the department’s website. We hope you find the information you seek regarding our vision, programs, and plans, as well as our academic journey from inception to the present day.
While the department was officially established in its current form alongside the university in early 1426 AH, its academic roots date back to 1400 AH, when it operated under the former Teachers’ College. The department was founded on a firm awareness of the importance of the Arabic language and its literature as a core component of national identity and culture. It bridges a solid academic grounding in Arabic heritage with a conscious following of modern developments in linguistic sciences and fields. A distinguished group of eminent professors has successively chaired the department, contributing to the development of its programs and tracks.
Today, the department is proud to offer diverse academic programs at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels in the Arabic language specialty. This is in addition to the Arabic Language Program for Non-Native Speakers, which serves learners from various countries around the world.
The department aims to build distinguished academic competencies in the fields of Arabic language, contribute to community development, enhance its Arabic and Islamic identity, and consolidate scientific research skills among its students. It also seeks to keep pace with the aspirations of our wise leadership and achieve the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which confirmed that the Arabic language is an authentic pillar of the Saudi national identity.
