Message from the Director of the Health Research Center
Scientific research in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is witnessing an unprecedented era of development, support, and excellence, as research is considered one of the key pillars for achieving the nation's Vision 2030, which aspires to transform the national economy into a knowledge-based economy founded on research, creativity, and innovation.
The Health Research Center at Jazan University is one of the leading specialized research centers locally, contributing to developmental research initiatives aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The center’s national research priorities include community health fields such as drug discovery, therapeutic development, combating emerging and endemic infectious diseases, and addressing chronic and non-communicable diseases.
The center enjoys significant support from the university leadership and is undergoing continuous development, distinguished by the high quality of its research outputs and its achievements in research cycles and projects. The center’s strategy aligns with Jazan University’s ambitious vision to lead in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly through utilizing the medicinal plants of the Jazan region, in addition to other health research domains. The center continues to support nationally impactful research projects focusing on priority areas such as microorganisms, infectious diseases, gene mobility, cancer, human genomics, metagenomics, environmental studies, and molecular epidemiology.
The launch of the center has significantly contributed to the university's research advancement, reflected in a remarkable track record of scientific publications, particularly in high-impact, first-quartile journals. This success affirms the strength and quality of the research conducted at the center, fostering distinguished research partnerships with prominent research centers and academic institutions.
The center continues its journey toward achieving its vision and objectives of becoming a pioneering institution, strengthening Saudi Arabia's position on the global health research map. To achieve this, it strives to further enhance its national and international research partnerships.
