Al-Darb College of Sciences and Arts on a field trip to the Virus Diagnostic Laboratory

A group of female students, Biology Department, Al-Darb College of Sciences and Arts, organized a field trip to the Virus Diagnostic Laboratory at Al-Darb General Hospital.
The importance of this visit is represented by the fact that many of the known and spread diseases are caused by viruses. During the visi, they were introduced to the serological tests which depend on human immunity response for example in detecting the HIV virus, B and C hepatitis virus, and other viruses. The diagnostic process was explained starting from blood samples, before surgical operations and cases of marriage and employment, up to the results by using the Bed-Three Device. Students were introduced to how this device operates and how the results are analyzed.
The Dean of Al-Darb College of Sciences and Arts, Dr Aishah Shamakhi, stressed the importance of visits like this which strengthen the scientific knowledge of the students in specific medical fields. She pointed out that students were given an idea about precautions and safety measurement that should be observed in the Virus Diagnostic Laboratory. She thanked, on behalf of the university, the health authorities for their continuous support and cooperation.
