About Jazan (Gizan)

Jazan City:

Jazan City is one of the most important cities of the kingdom. It is located on the southern part of the red sea coast. At Jazan city is the third most important seaport on the Red Sea.

Jazan is currently witnessing tremendous economic, educational, cultural and healthcare development. It is famous for its scholars, poets and men of letters and is the headquarters of the Governor, local councils and branches of governmental departments, and Jazan University. In Jazan City you can enjoy many recreation centers and resorts on the red-sea coast. Jazan is famous of its big shopping malls and nice restaurants.

Jazan University:                  

One of the new universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It includes 17 deferent colleges that are serving more than 30,000 students.
     

Jazan Province :

Jazan (also called Gizan) province is one of the thirteen states of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is located on the tropical Red Sea coast in southwestern Saudi Arabia. Jazan covers an area of 11,671 square kilometers, including some 5,000 villages and cities. Attached to it are 100 islands, including the largest island of Farasan. Jazan region runs along the Red Sea coast for almost 200 miles (300 km). It is a highly populated state with a total population of 1.5 million.

The weather in Jazan is hot in the summer and mild in the winter. The average temperature throughout the year is 23-25 Celsius. The province can be windy during the summer months with winds reaching an average 25 km/h. The average rainfall is 45-100mm per year. Jazan is the richest among the kingdom provinces in water.

Jazan is one of the Kingdom's agricultural regions, remarkable for both the quality and variety of its agricultural produce. It is notable for its production of coffee beans, grain crops (barley, millet and wheat) and fruit (apples, bananas, grapes, lemons, mangoes, oranges, papayas, plums and tamarinds). Jazan province has an annual Mango Festival.

Almost every day there is an interesting traditional souqs (markets) in Jazan city, Alahad , Sabiya, Abuarish and Alkhoba. Jazan is famous with its traditional culture (Food, folklore and architect).

 

Mango Festival:

Jazan cultivates several kinds of mango. It is among the best quality in the world. Annually, Jazan people celebrates mango in a huge festival.
 


Jazan Arts and folklore:
Jazanese folklore is one of the most distinguished in the kingdom. Jazanese traditional dancers usually wear the traditional cloths and dance with daggers or swords.
The jazanese women’s traditional dressed are colorful, decorated. Gold and flowers are very prominent components of Jazanese ladies’ traditional dresses.
 

Jazan Mountains:

The mountain region is part of the Al Sarawat Mountain range, which constitutes the jagged backbone of the Arabian Peninsula. The highest peak in Jizan is the Fifa Mountain that rises 11,000 feet. It is cold and rainy most of the year and full of natural resorts.
